ConfigurationOverview

Configuration

Navigator is configured via .agent/.nav-config.json. Toggle features interactively with “show features” (nav-features), or edit the file directly.

{ "version": "8.3.5", "task_mode": true, "knowledge_graph": true, "tom_features": { "verification_checkpoints": true }, "auto_update": { "enabled": true, "check_interval_hours": 1 } }

Personal overrides (v7.8.0)

.agent/.nav-config.json is committed and shared with the team. .agent/.nav-config.local.json is gitignored (nav-init adds the entry) and merges over it last — DEFAULTS < shared < local — in the hook runtime and in nav-features. Toggle a feature for yourself only with nav-features disable <feature> --local; “show features” marks rows the local file decides with L. Typical use: a contributor without a TypeSafe key turning the judge off without editing the shared file.

As of v7.0.0, Navigator’s behaviors are enforced by the hook runtime — each one is an op with a config off-switch, not a prose mandate. Missing blocks default safe, and migration from v6 is additive (your v6 blocks are preserved; new v7 blocks are added on first run).

Feature blocks

  • Theory of Mind — tom_features: verification checkpoints, bilateral modeling, quality detection.
  • Loop Mode — loop_mode: run-until-done with a dual-condition exit gate.
  • Task Mode — task_mode: phase-based orchestration that defers to skills.
  • Tier-1 Instant Answers — tier1: exact-match commands answered with zero model invocation (ships off).
  • Completion Gate — stop_completion: evidence-based finish enforcement on Stop (ships off).
  • Typed Prompt Judge — judge: TypeSafe Jev judgments behind the loop/complexity/ambiguity scorers, decisive-or-fallback (ships off).
  • Reply Modes — reply_modes, adhd_mode, ste_mode: per-person reply switches you flip by saying adhd mode on or ste mode on, mid-session, no restart (ADHD v7.9.0, STE v8.3.0).
  • Knowledge Graph — knowledge_graph: unified search + experiential memory.
  • Code Simplification — simplification: clarity passes before commit.
  • Auto-Update — auto_update: session-start notice when a newer release exists, with the update command.
  • PM & Team Chat — project_management, task_prefix, team_chat.
